Presented here for sale is an incredible piece of football history with great football content.

This is the rarest known Earl Curly Lambeau handwritten letter signed on a university two-sided postcard from around 1919.  Yes, his name is birth name is EARL.

This letter is Signed Earl, and the postcard reads: “My dear little Smucks, Now that the war is practically over (World War 1) you can expect me home almost any time. It may be days, weeks, or more nobody can tell. I would cut 5 years from my life to spend an evening with you. Ten of we football men were to leave for camp Fremont, California on Dec 1, but will not since peace is declared.  We should of won Sat, as we outplayed Great Lakes. We were ahead 7-0 at the end of the half. If our team was in shape we could beat em bad. Eastern critics say we have the best team around. I suppose you got your information from Chicago papers which were far from accurate. I will write that promise letter as soon as possible.  anxious Love Earl .  P.S. (I won my N.P.).

Curly Lambeau was the co-founder of the Green Bay Packers Football team and was their head coach. Lambeau Field is named after him. Lambeau, along with his friend George Whitney Calhoun, founded the Green Bay Packers in 1919. He served as team captain in the team’s first year before becoming player-coach in 1920. As a player he was the team’s primary runner and passer, in the early years of the NFL,  accounting for 35 touchdowns (eight as a rusher, three as a receiver, and 24 as a passer) in 77 games. He won his only NFL championship as a player in 1929.
