This is a Vintage 1950s original Hartland unpainted white-base minor league, which is very scarce. This statue was created along with the 18 Major League players issued between 1958-63 by the Hartland Company of Wisconsin. Created as a caketopper for a special touch on a child’s birthday cake, it also came with an unusual accessory to display it on the family car’s dashboard. It later became associated with the baseball series because of the #5 on the back; maybe a salute by those at Hartland to honor the “Yankee Clipper”, Joe DiMaggio.
