The NHL expansion franchise Vegas Golden Knights wrote a stunning story that transcended hockey. The Golden Knights were the first expansion team since the 1967–68 St. Louis Blues to make the Stanley Cup Finals in their inaugural season. They entered the season as long shots to make the postseason, let alone the Finals.  They broke all first-year team records and won the Pacific Division title in their first NHL season. They swept the Los Angeles Kings in four straight games in Round 1 of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and defeated the San Jose Sharks in six games in Round 2, the Knights knocked off the Winnipeg Jets to win the Clarence Campbell Bowl before falling to the Washington Capitals in the 2018 Stanley Cup Final.

The 2018 Stanley Cup Finals was the championship series of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) 2017–18 season and the culmination of the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs. The Eastern Conference champion Washington Capitals defeated the Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights four games to one to win their first championship, in their 44th season. The Vegas Golden Knights made the Finals in their first season, while this was the second Finals appearance for the Capitals.

The Vegas Golden Knights had an unbelievable run in their Inaugural season. The Stanley Cup chase is a gauntlet for even the strongest teams. From the culmination of the Vegas gauntlet comes this game worn jersey. It was skated right off the ice of the Stanley Cup Finals (Game 5). Proudly on the chest it sports the Stanley Cup Final patch, and it was worn by forward William Carrier. He wore it in Game 5 in which the Washington Capitals won 4-3. Carrier spent a little more than seven minutes on the ice in that game.

This grey Vegas Carrier the Crusher Game -Worn home jersey features the Golden Knights barbute helmet logo patch centrally on the front in black, gold, and silver. The Golden Knights secondary logo, a red star superimposed over two crossed swords on each shoulder in red, gold, white, and black tackle twill. The NHL equipment shield is featured at the base of the front collar.  The number “28” appears on the back and sleeves in white and gold tackle twill. The sleeves are grey/black with gold and red stripes. His name on back “CARRIER” appears in white tackle twill on a matching nameplate under the Adidas logo. As an added feature, the jersey was autographed for the fan who obtained it in black felt tip (“9-10”) on the back number “8” by Carrier.

In the interior, the Adidas size “56” is located on the collar below the red Vegas banner. The side seam also sports a manufacturer’s tag. The interior also has two MeiGray authentication patch tagging.  One patch is on the front side and the one is on the back portion. They both indicate it’s game worn. Back details it’s from the 2017-18 Season and front as an “OFFICIAL GAME JERSEY 2018 STANLEY CUP FINALS” with noted “HEAD EQUIPMENT MANAGER – CHRIS DAVIDSON-MILES”. The jersey displays signs of game use, with thread fraying and mild wear on the fight strap.

The Golden Knights exceeded even the most optimistic projections to turn in one of the strongest debut seasons for an expansion team in North American professional sports history. This game jersey is a wonderful representation of the magical ride the team took Vegas on!
