After his playing days were over, Ty Cobb turned himself into a multi-millionaire. After investing in Coca-Cola and the stock market, Cobb lived a comfortable life when his career ended. Many ballplayers from Cobb’s era fell on hard times as players didn’t command the salaries they do now. This post-career Cobb check was made out to Postmaster Cornelia, GA. for the fee of $26.48. The penning as well as Cobb’s signature, Tyrus R. Cobb, was made in blue ink (his preference was green). The check was stamped and ran throught the cancellation machine. The holes don’t touch the autograph making it a solid HOF autograph.
