Tiger Woods Signed Flag w/ Others The Tournament of Champions – COA JSA

Presented is a golf pin flag from the Tournament of Champions autographed by 28 tournament participants. The signers are in both black and gold paint pen. The highlight is obviously Tiger Woods who signed the flag in gold paint pen (“9”) in the top right corner area. Others who signed include: Mark Calcavecchia; Mark O’Meara; David Duval; Stewart Cink and many others.

Championship tournaments settled into La Costa throughout the 1980s. The Tournament of Champions (later called the Mercedes Championship) was hosted at La Costa from 1969 until 1998. Long considered the Super Bowl of Golf, players had to win a PGA Tour event the preceding year to qualify. The tournament included some of the greatest players in history like Phil Mickelson, Gary Player, Tom Watson and Tiger Woods. It alsincluded some of the greatest moments in golf, like when a then 21-year-old Tiger Woods beat Tom Lehman with a near-ace on the first playoff hole, preceded by four consecutive closing birdies on the “Longest Mile” to get in to the playoff.
