Some Like It Hot Movie Poster Display Marilyn Monroe 1959

Some Like It Hot, the classic 1959 Billy Wilder is romantic musical cross-dressing “drag” crime comedy (“Hot!!!”; about two out of work musicians who happen to witness the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in Chicago, and they need to leave town in a hurry, but the only jobs they can get is with an all-girl band, and they dress in drag, and one of the band members is Marilyn Monroe) starring Marilyn Monroe (“and her bosom companions”), Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), George Raft, Pat O’Brien, and Joe E. Brown. 

Presented is an original poster from the 1959 film, “Some Like it Hot.” The poster in its original form was 30″ x 40″. These size posters are among the rarest of all sizes and are always in demand by collectors who know their scarcity. This is the rare “Z Style” version. As referenced in “The World’s Rarest Movie Posters” there are only a few known to exist of this style (and come to market).

The white border on this one has been trimmed off (for display purposes) making the actual measurement 28.5″ x 38.5″. It does have the printed copyright information, “Copyright 1959, United Artists Corp.” Originally in rolled format, the yellow poster has discolored from age/display. Although intact, it features wear from display with paper loss, creasing, display holes etc. This is especially noticeable around the edges. The entire display measures in at 31.5″ x 41.5″.
