Presented is a handwritten personal letter from Ronald Reagan. He wrote it out in black steel tip fountain pen (“9”) to a woman, “Mrs. Pete Van Weis” and was apologizing to her for not being able to help with something P.O.W. related. One of the most interesting lines read, “I assure you I’ll keep trying even harder to see if one day soon we can have a govt. in Wash. that will recognize its responsibility to its citizens. Then he signed it in closure with the salutation, Sincerely. An envelope is included and it was postmarked May 3, 1962. The letter measures 7.25″ x 10.5”.

Ronald Reagan will be remembered as one of the top Commanders in Chief.  His signature is coveted by presidential collectors far and wide. Not long after his days in the White House were over, Regan disappeared from the public spotlight. He was even more guarded once he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.  The entire world mourned when Reagan died in 2004. A truly great American was lost forever.

Nancy Reagan became the first lady of the United States when Ronald Reagan was inaugurated as president in January 1981. Early in her husband’s presidency, Reagan stated her desire to create a more suitable “first home” in the White House, as the building had fallen into a state of disrepair following years of neglect.
