Mickey Mantle Signed Photo 16×20 Yankees “No. 6, 1951.”- COA JSA

The New York Yankees have so many numbers retired that it is fun to go through the list of names along with their easily identifiable number that have made their impact on the diamond. Mickey Mantle is forever identified with wearing #7.  Interestingly however, Mantle was originally assigned #6 since he was seen as the next in line for Yankee greatness after Babe Ruth (#3), Lou Gehrig (#4) and Joe DiMaggio (#5). In the spring of 1951, he was showing some of the endless promise that had Yankee brass convinced he would become the franchise’s heir to Joe DiMaggio.

Presented is a rookie era photo of a youthful Mickey Mantle on the field. It is a fantastic 16×20 large size photo. The best thing is that Mickey signed this photo in blue felt tip and added the inscription with his original rookie year number: “No. 6, 1951.” The autograph was graded by JSA as a perfect “10”.

Overall, one of the best-signed Mantle photos you can find with a wonderful inscription. Note, the frame is not included and the photo will be taken out of frame and glass when shipped.

These originated from a longtime collector who acquired a substantial amount of autographs traveling to many trade shows on the East Coast in the 1980’s-90’s. All the signatures along with rare inscriptions in his collection (especially Mickey Mantle) were obtained in person.
