The Meadowlark Lemon Award, established in 1975, honors outstanding contributions to the sport of basketball within the state of North Carolina. This prestigious accolade is presented by the North Carolina Basketball Sports Hall of Fame, recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exemplary skill, leadership, and dedication to the game. The COA Legacy Foundation proudly supports this initiative, ensuring the continued recognition of basketball legends who have made a lasting impact on the sport and its community. Through this award, we celebrate the rich history and enduring legacy of basketball in North Carolina.
Never offered before are the personal trophies, game-worn jerseys, signed jerseys, and basketballs from the Meadowlark Lemon estate. Included is a letter of authentication from Meadowlark Lemon’s non-profit organization, Meadowlark Lemon Legacy Foundation, and the sale benefits his non-profit organization.
In 2003, Meadowlark Lemon was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor. Lemon was one of the most popular and best-known of the Globetrotters. In 2000, he received the John Bunn award, the highest honor given by the Basketball Hall of Fame outside of induction. In 2001, the Globetrotters honored Lemon with a Legends Ring and by retiring his jersey (#36).
