The 1991 Angel Award, bestowed upon Meadowlark Lemon, recognizes his exceptional contributions to the realm of television through his celebrated show. This distinguished accolade features a silver-toned praying angel that stands at an impressive 11 inches tall, accompanied by a dedication plaque that highlights the significance of the honor. Note, the halo portion was broken. The award symbolizes Lemon’s enduring impact on the entertainment industry and his ability to inspire audiences with his unique talent and charisma. As a treasured artifact, it embodies both artistic achievement and the spirit of creativity that Lemon brought to his performances. This award is 1 of 2 statues that were presented to him from 1991.

The Angel Awards, presented by the Los Angeles-based “Religion in Media” (founded 1977), honor media that demonstrate moral, spiritual, or social value. Historically, these awards recognized excellence in television, film, and print, with major wins in the 1980s for projects like “Chariots of Fire” and “The Mission”.

Meadowlark Lemon’s self-titled show, “The Meadowlark Lemon Show” won four Angel Awards. “The Meadowlark Lemon Show” was a Christian television program hosted by the legendary Harlem Globetrotter, focusing on interviews with athletes and entertainers who shared their faith in Christ. It was a staple on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) as part of his post-basketball ministry. The show highlighted guests discussing how their successes in life were attributed to Jesus Christ. After retiring from the Globetrotters in 1979 and becoming an ordained minister in 1986, Lemon aimed to bring a message of hope and encouragement to viewers. The show, along with Meadowlark Lemon Ministries (established 1994), was part of his effort to spread faith after a 22-year, 16,000-game basketball career.

For the first time, we are proud to present an exclusive collection of personal trophies, game-worn jerseys, signed jerseys, collectibles and basketballs from the esteemed Meadowlark Lemon estate. Each item is accompanied by a letter of authentication from the Meadowlark Lemon Legacy Foundation, ensuring the provenance and significance of these remarkable artifacts. This unique offering not only honors the legacy of a legendary figure in basketball but also provides collectors with a rare opportunity to own a piece of history. We invite you to explore this exceptional collection and celebrate the enduring impact of Meadowlark Lemon on the sport.

The Meadowlark Lemon collection serves to support his non-profit organization, reflecting the legacy of an extraordinary athlete and entertainer. Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003 as a contributor, Lemon’s influence extended beyond the court, making him one of the most celebrated figures associated with the Harlem Globetrotters. In recognition of his significant contributions to the sport, he was awarded the prestigious John Bunn Award in 2000, and in 2001, the Globetrotters honored him further by presenting him with a Legends Ring and retiring his jersey, number 36. This collection not only commemorates his achievements but also aims to continue his philanthropic efforts.
