This beautiful serigraph print was made by American artist LeRoy Neiman (1921 – 2012). Neiman was a premiere expressionist painter and screen printer known for his brightly colored depictions of action scenes of athletes and sporting events.
This specific piece was commissioned by Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson in 1973 for one of the first Bills home games at the new Ralph Wilson Stadium. It is called Football Running Back and shows the October 29, 1973 home game of the Bills against the Chiefs. The player carrying the ball is O.J. Simpson. Simpson had several 200-yard rush games during the season and it has been considered one of the greatest seasons in rushing history.
This “Rushing Back” serigraph was signed by Neiman in pencil and numbered 254/300. It measures 26″x 39″.
