During George Steinbrenner’s 37 year team ownership from 1973 until his passing in 2010, the Yankees won seven World Series titles and 11 pennants. Steinbrenner signed this letter which was typed on Yankees letterhead stationery to a friend (Gabe Paul). The letter was inviting him and his wife to his 60th birthday party at one of his Florida hotels in 1990. The itinerary is discussed along with entertainment and attire recommendations.
Interestingly, Steinbrenner’s humor was added at the end by saying, “Don’t bring any gifts unless they are very, very expensive, but I would really appreciate a donation to your favorite charity in honor of my 60th. That would be real nice.” The letter (8.5″ x 11″) is in good condition with fold lines and minor splits on the edges. Signed by “George” in blue ballpoint pen (“9-10”) after salutation.
