Presented is a piece of parchment autographed by both Cab Calloway and John Barrymore. Calloway signed the vintage piece of paper (4.5″ x 5.5″) in pencil on one side (“9”). The back features a John Barrymore autograph in pencil (“9”). The paper features a small cutout portrait affixed of each entertainer and is dated on the front/back March 5, 1939 on Calloway side and March 18, 1939 on Barrymore side.

Cab Calloway was an American jazz singer and bandleader. He was a regular performer at the Cotton Club in Harlem, where he became a popular vocalist of the swing era. His niche of mixing jazz and vaudeville won him acclaim during a career that spanned over 65 years.

A member of the Drew and Barrymore theatrical families, John Barrymore initially tried to avoid the stage, and briefly attempted a career as an artist, but appeared on stage together with his father Maurice in 1900, and then his sister Ethel the following year. He began his career in 1903 and first gained attention as a stage actor in light comedy, then high drama, culminating in productions of Justice (1916), Richard III (1920), and Hamlet (1922); his portrayal of Hamlet led to him being called the “greatest living American tragedian”.
