Ann Garman (later Hosted); is a former All-American Girls Professional Baseball League player. Garman batted and threw right-handed. She played first base and had a chance to play in the All American League before it folded in 1954. She played in 21 games with the South Bend Blue Sox in its 1953 season. She recorded 195 putouts with seven assists and turned six double plays while committing only seven errors in 209 total chances for a .967 fielding average. 

The All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) was a professional women’s baseball league founded by Philip K. Wrigley which existed from 1943 to 1954. The AAGPBL is the forerunner of women’s professional league sports in the United States. Over 600 women played in the league. It was not really a well-known fact until filmmaker Penny Marshall premiered her 1992 film A League of Their Own.

 

    Presented is an unofficial MacGregor baseball autographed by Ann Garman.  She signed it (Ann Garman Hosted So Bend Blue Sox) on the side panel in black ballpoint pen (“9”).
