Presented from the Marcus Banks collection is this game worn Gilbert Arenas Wizards jersey from 2007-08 season.
Marcus Banks was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and he was the first Las Vegas (born) player to get drafted by the NBA. He played college basketball at the UNLV with the Runnin’ Rebels, where he was Co-Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. Banks was selected with the thirteenth pick in the first round of the 2003 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies, then traded to the Boston Celtics, along with Kendrick Perkins.
The jersey on the front left tail shows the “ADIDAS” manufacturers tag. Attached are four additional manufacturer’s tags with the jersey size “50”,”LENGTH +4″, “CLIMALITE”, and “2007-08” on them. Across the front is “WIZARDS” in black/white tackle twill. Across the back is the player name “ARENAS” in black/white tackle twill. Above the player name on back are stars patches. Below that and on back is his number “0” in the same tackle twill. On the left breast is the official “NBA” embroidered logo. Overall, it shows moderate wear with soft malleable tagging. Note, there’s mild surface wear from previous framing display.
The highlight was that it was autographed by Gilbert Arenas on the verso numeral. He signed it in black felt tip (“8”) with the inscription, “Agent O”.
Career Notes: On June 9, 2008, Gilbert Arenas officially opted out of the final year of his contract, but said that he would re-sign with the Wizards if they retained teammate Antawn Jamison, also a free agent. The Wizards did indeed sign Jamison to a contract. Arenas was offered a five-year contract worth more than $100 million by the Golden State Warriors and another max deal by the Wizards, a six-year deal worth $124 million. On July 13, 2008, Arenas signed a six-year contract worth $111 million with the Wizards.
