Presented is a Indiana Pacers game issued jersey from the 2004-05 season for Ron Artest. The season was short-lived for Artest as he was involved with the Malace at the Palace that season.
On November 19, 2004, Artest was at the center of an altercation among players and fans during a game in Auburn Hills, Michigan, between Artest’s Pacers and the home team Detroit Pistons. The brawl involved Artest, Pistons center Ben Wallace, Artest’s teammates Jermaine O’Neal and Stephen Jackson, several other players, and spectators including Pistons fans John Green and A. J. Shackleford. The fight resulted in the game being stopped with less than a minute remaining. O’Neal, Jackson, and Wallace were suspended indefinitely the day after the game. A day later, the NBA suspended Artest for the rest of the regular season, plus any playoff games. Artest missed 86 games, the longest suspension for an on-court incident in NBA history.
This jersey was in line to be worn as backup or after the Malace in the Palace incident. The size and specifications are correct for Ron Artest. On the front left tail of this navy blue and yellow pinstriped mesh jersey, is the NBA AUTHENTICS / Reebok label, with (3) tags attached: 50 / 2004-2005 / LENGTH +4. Embroidered NBA logo on the left breast. INDIANA is across the chest, player number (91) below that and on the back – both done in yellow on navy on white tackle twill. His name (ARTEST) arched across the back, yellow on white tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged, presented as game-issued, and doesn’t show wear. It originates from a NBA source and is a stunning jersey from the man who is now known as Metta Sandiford Artest.
