1995-96 Lawrence Wright Game-Worn Helmet Florida Gators – COA 100% Authentic Team

Presented is an orange Florida Gators helmet worn by Lawrence Wright in 1995-96 season. Wright was a saftey for the team as a senior that season. This well-used Air helmet has a white facemask and a blue-white-blue stripe bisecting the crown. A “Gators” script decal is adhered to both sides of the helmet. A facemask bumper with “Gators” printed in blue script is affixed on the forehead of the helmet. There’s also a custom visor within the top portion. The facemask shows wear throughout.

The link to Wright is via an interior dymo sticker “WRIGHT 4” as well as a black markered “4” for his jersey number. There’s also a reconditioned sticker on the opposite side. The blue padding system in the interior is worn with dirt and sweat. The helmet is dated by the stickers on the back – “AK MB” on one side and “4 – EVER #1” on the other (with a warning sticker). There’s also scuffing marks on the shell throughout. Overall, strong use with wear both inside and out.

Lawrence Wright accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he played for coach Steve Spurrier’s Florida Gators football team from 1993 to 1996. He led the Gators with 109 tackles as a junior in 1995. During Wright’s senior season in 1996, Wright was one of the team captains and the Gators posted a 12–1 record and won the 1996 Bowl Alliance national championship by defeating the top-ranked Florida State Seminoles 52–20 in the 1997 Sugar Bowl. He finished his Gator career with 331 tackles, five interceptions, eight forced fumbles and four fumbles recoveries.

Gators fans also remember Wright for leading the cheer “If you ain’t a Gator, you must be Gator bait!” during a large celebration at Florida Field following Florida’s 1996 national championship. As an alumnus, he returned to Gainesville to lead the same cheer during celebrations after the Gators’ national championships in 2006 and 2008.
