Presented from one of Jordan’s teammates is a Chicago Bulls warm-up jacket worn by Michael Jordan during the 1986-87 season. There has never been one available on the market that comes directly from a teammate and with provenance showcased on official Chicago Bulls team paperwork (letterhead). Mike Brown was an avid collector throughout his playing days.  He has collected some of the most exciting Bulls Team Photos never seen before and signatures prior to the UDA exclusives.  We mention this as it is important to understand Mike Brown collected game-used jerseys to signatures during his playing days for his own personal joy.  He collected to document his own journey of playing professional sports and basketball. We have included some footage to corroborate the story.  Click Here.

Other items-Mike brown.

The Bulls jacket is primarily red with a black collar and accents on the side seams. The black-with-white outline “CHICAGO” city logo is easily identified vertically on the front. The Bulls logo itself is also prominently showcased on the back.

The jacket shows great wear and features Sand Knit double tagging on the interior collar. One is the Exclusivity Designation for the “Chicago Bulls” then there is a [size] tag 46 and 4″ L.B. [extra length]. “23” is hand-written on the SAND KNIT collar tag.  This is a prevalent practice with the equipment managers so they can identify the player’s Warm-Ups as the Player name or numeral was not on the back of the warm-ups.

“The 1986 – 87 red away game warm-up worn by Michael Jordan, I received at the end of my rookie year.  At the end of the season, I asked the trainer for any of the old warm-ups. Every year we got two new ones for both home (two white) and away (two red) games and this was the style worn ’86-’88.  I was able to acquire a few of the warm-ups from our trainer that season including Charles Oakley, John Paxton, and of course, this Michael Jordan.’ Stated by Michael Brown, former Bulls player.  “Before my rookie season in 1985-86, the difference on the shirts was the oversized NBA logo and red collar versus black collar.”

Incredibly, there is a specific Photo-style match (possible photo match)  of the red six-button warm-up with black collar, as shown on Michael Jordan at the All-Star Game 1986-87 (see photo). The 37th National Basketball Association All-Star Game was played on February 8, 1987, at Seattle’s Kingdome.

Brown further states. “The warm-ups were worn, before the game tip-off, we would come out on the floor with this particular warm-up (my rookie year).  We all had to be uniformed with or without or pants based on how hot it was. But we would have to be all uniform for the game – we would be warming up right before tip-off.  Then when the game started we took it off if we were a Starter.  If not, I would still have my warm-up on the bench during the game.”

With Michael Jordan being a superstar, naturally the Bulls ordered more of his uniforms. Once Jordan’s uniform was stolen right out of his suitcase and he had to wear a different number in that game.

Notes on the differences of the warms during the years.  The photo of Jordan wearing the seven button warm-up is the 1987-88 style as Scottie Pippen is the background and this is Pippen’s rookie year.

Browns rookie year which is 1986-87, they had the six-button style as seen in the free throw shot of Jordan wearing this warm-up.

This is a phenomenal iconic piece of game-used history from Michael Jordan’s early years sourced from his Team-Mate, who is still in close contact with Michael Jordan.  Bid with confidence.
