The Jackie Robinson Story (Eagle Lion, 1950). One Sheet (27″ X 41″)

Presented for auction is a rare The Jackie Robinson Story (Eagle Lion, 1950). One Sheet (27″ X 41″).
Jackie Robinson plays himself in this heartfelt and unusually realistic biopic that follows his early years of baseball superstardom. Robinson was the first black man to play major league baseball in the 20th century, and as such, had to endure endless comments from bigots as he tried to play the game and show that he was equal or better than any other player. When the film was made, civil rights had not been put into law yet and so the scenes with the racial bigotry Robinson faced were kept to a minimum. The film was made by British studio Eagle Lion and so didn’t get the full distribution treatment a major USA studio would have given it. As such, the posters on this title rarely come on the market and when they do, they are sought after by film and sport enthusiasts alike. This poster is professionally mounted on a poster board to retain its condition. The upper left corner of the poster has a small piece missing. Please review the pictures here for further viewing
