Jackie Robinson Teenie Harris Photo 11×14

Charles “Teenie” Harris was a trailblazer in professional photography. The African American artist’s atelier was in Pittsburgh where he operated an independent studio, but he plied most of his career in the service of the Pittsburgh Courier, the leading black Steel City newspaper of the time. It was a chronicle of a vibrant urban community during the Jim Crow and Civil Rights eras. In his images, he captured the city’s urban flavor in everyday experiences as well as people who shaped the 20th century – stars like Lena Horne, Jackie Robinson, John F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Currently, the Carnegie Museum of Art is entrusted with many of the archives of his negatives.  With permission from his estate, many of these iconic images are now available and are presented for enjoyment.

Up for auction is a one-shot Teenie Harris 11×14 b&w Brooklyn great  Jack Robinson with Ray Scott. Ray Scott broadcast Super Bowl I and II for CBS, along with the brutally cold “Ice Bowl” NFL championship game of 1967. Ray Scott was from  Pittsburgh, where he did play-by-play for Carnegie Tech and University of Pittsburgh football, and Duquesne University basketball.
