Here is an off-center dime error coin is struck slightly to one side or another — sometimes, most or virtually all of the design may be missing from the coin altogether. Off-center strikes are rare coins. However, they are among the most common and popular of all coin errors. The Roosevelt dime is the current dime, or ten-cent piece, of the United States. Struck by the United States Mint continuously since 1946, it displays President Franklin D. Roosevelt on the obverse and was authorized soon after his death in 1945. Mint-made errors are errors during the minting process. Groups of coins with distinctive characteristics are known as varieties.  A rare error that sold for $5462.50 on Heritage Auctions in August 2010 is an updated U.S nickel struck on top of 1960 5 centavos. Foreign coins struck on a U.S coin planchet or vice versa are very uncommon and hold a high value.
