If you have ever wanted to own an unique piece of memorabilia from a Hollywood star this is your opportunity. Movie stars and celebrities across all genres have put their handprints down in concrete in front of the Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This item is a similar concept that was designed for the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard. They come directly from the artist who created it, Franco Vecchio.

The celebrities were immortalized in these 36″ x 24″ cast concrete slabs. They put their handprints down, signed it and added a salutation. You can see complete details of the star’s hands in the concrete which also show their fingerprints. The slabs were especially created for the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. These are the original molds that were used to create the copies that decorate the different rooms in the hotel.

There were a total of approximately 30 stars that were cast individually for the hotel project.  These were never sold or available for sale on the retail market.  Although the Roosevelt Hotel did get a copy, the originals were kept in safekeeping by the artist Franco Vecchio.

This one is ready and available to hang with two built in hooks on the back.  It must be noted that it is not designed to be put outside out in the weather.

This one features Mickey Rooney who used a brush and a stick to create his personalized concrete handprint message.

He added the date 12-1-02.

Authentication: Provenance Letter COA.

About the Artist: Vecchio grew up in Sicily. He worked with his father who was a master mason. He was introduced to building and design at a young age. His family settled on the East Coast. He later moved to Los Angeles and went on to produce and market his own line of home accessories, as well as producing lines for Calvin Klein Home and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation.

Franco then would make custom pieces of art and furniture for residential clients around L.A. and was soon asked to create interiors. He is best known for masculine bachelor pads. Known for his attention to detail his designs are extraordinary. He even prefers to design the furniture pieces. Franco remains an artist who has attention to detail in his craft.  His work has been published in Architectural Digest.
