Joe E. Brown was an American actor and comedian, remembered for his amiable screen persona, comic timing, and enormous elastic-mouth smile. He was one of the most popular American comedians in the 1930s and 1940s, with films like A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1935), Earthworm Tractors (1936) and Alibi Ike (1935). In his later career Brown starred in Some Like it Hot (1959), as Osgood Fielding III, in which he utters the famous punchline, “Well, nobody’s perfect.”

The highlight of the collection is the promotional black and white photo of Brown autographed in black pen (“9″). Features a wonderful salutation To Jack – Your Friend and dated 8-30-48. The photo measures in at 3.5″ x 5”.

What makes it extra special is the collection also includes two Joe E. Brown signed personal letters (TLS) both to the photo’s recipient, John McQuigg. Both letters were in regards to McQuigg’s war service and were dated to early (Jan./Feb.) of 1945. They were signed by the actor in black pen (“9”) with one having a shorter version of his name Joe E. and the other his full name. Overall, a wonderful collection of three signed items with the same provenance.
