Way back when, in the late ‘90s, Terrell Owens was a star on the rise, hoping to replace an aging Jerry Rice as the 49ers’ go-to guy. On the field he was talented…enigmatic…troublesome…charismatic all in the same breath. His amazing talent was rewarded when he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
These are Terrell Owens game-worn cleats from his time with the San Francisco 49ers in 2003. Nike Apocalypse cleats sport a red, white and gold colorway. Interior tagging reports a size “15” and correct coding. Custom T.O. red/gold embroidery on the tongue. Fine game wear is evident with scuffs, field dirt, cracking on gold stripe of the heels (one has piece missing) and transfer marks.
Photo style matches can be found on Getty images including:
vs. Detroit Lions – October 05, 2003.
vs. Cincinnati Bengals – December 14, 2003.
Interestingly, it was an item that came directly from the famous purchase of Terrell Owen’s Storage unit as reported by TMZ. Overall, it is a great NFL collectible by itself but since it came out of the unit with the provenance of being owned and worn by Owens it makes it that more special.
A copy of the original purchase receipt will add proof and provenance.
