1991 Predator Model Kit Statue – Billiken

Tom Killeen is well known in the film industry as a movie magic specialist. Killeen works behind the scenes of the art department tirelessly. He is known for creating and painting designs that help actors morph into the characters they portray or transforming the entire imaginary world around them.  Among many films, he has worked on I Am Legend (2007), Independence Day (1996) and The Chronicles of Riddick (2004).

Presented are items from his personal collection. Some of the items are direct from film sets and others are project models he has worked on. The work on the props and models are beyond hobbyist as these pieces were touched by Killeen who has a highly technical and advanced artist skill. He is now ready to bring his form of art to market and have it appreciated by all the movie buffs or monster collectors out there.

From Killeen’s collection is this Predator statue build up model kit from Billiken. The extraterrestrial hunter known as the “Predator” has been a favorite subject of figure kit producers for over 30 years now. Here is Billiken’s rendition of the character, a legendary vinyl model from 1991, complete, unbuilt, in its original box. A bona fide kit classic, the figure was sculpted by Mr. Hayao Hama, and still holds up today as one of the finest Predator models, especially in terms of the figure’s flexibility. It features film accuracy, a strong pose, powerful proportions, and exceptionally slick detail.

The figure also includes three separate head options: one with the mandibles spread wide open in rage, the second has them clenched tightly shut, and the third has the hunter clad in his ominous helmet. Twin wrist blades, shoulder canon, body armor, netting, and bone trophies – they’re all here – crisply crafted in easy-to-assemble PVC vinyl. It’s a 1/6 scale figure that stands approx. 12 1/2″ tall when assembled, and features swiveling joints at the shoulders, wrists, waist, and ankles, allowing for a wide range of posing options.  However, please know that the model offered here is unbuilt, and packed in its original box with the illustrated instruction sheet. A model kit classic, and one of best early Predators.
