1989 Miami Hurricanes National Championship Ring

The 1989 Miami Hurricanes football team represented the University of Miami during the 1989 NCAA Division I-A football season. It was the Hurricanes’ 64th season of football. The Hurricanes were led by first-year head coach Dennis Erickson and played their home games at the Orange Bowl. They finished the season 11–1 overall. They were invited to the Sugar Bowl where they defeated Alabama, 33-25, to win the school’s 3rd national championship.

This ring originates from Bobby Revilla. In 1982 with the University of Miami’s athletic department, Revilla started out as a student manager. Over time he worked his way up to a full time head position and served as the head equipment manager. This allowed him to oversee all of the equipment needs and maintenance until 2012. Over his 30 year career, he was also fortunate to be part of all five of Miami’s football national championships. This item was well curated over time by Revilla and is ready to be part of a new legacy.

Presented is a 1989 Miami Hurricanes NCAA Championship ring that was given to Revilla from a graduate assistant. It’s solid 10k yellow gold and made by Herff Jones – engraved in the interior is “DJ HJ 10K”. Around the center is “Miami Hurricanes National Champions.”

It’s a one round cubic zirconia gemstone set with bead prongs into a square white gold section into a cushion shaped green acrylic section that is bezel set into the top. Embossed on one side panel is “Johnson 1989” with a football helmet image. Embossed on the opposite side panel is “USF&G Sugar Bowl 11-1”.  The weight is 37 grams and it is a size 9.5.
