The 1953 Milwaukee Braves season was the 83rd season of the franchise. It saw the return of Major League Baseball to Milwaukee for the first time since 1901, when the original Milwaukee Brewers played before moving to St. Louis and becoming the Browns. With attendance and interest in Boston very low, team owner Lou Perini moved the team to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during spring training, just weeks before the start of the season.

In ’53, Charlie Grimm enjoyed his first full season as boss of the ailing Milwaukee Braves, muscling his team to a 92-62 record and second in the NL — nearly 30 games better than the previous year’s mark.

Presented is an ONL (Giles) baseball autographed by 24 members of the 1953 Milwaukee Braves team. The baseball itself is toned from age and features soiling. Signers blue/black ballpoint include: C. Grimm; Del Crandall; Andy Pafko; J. Antonelli; J. Logan; Lew Burdette; S. Gordon; V. Bickford; J. Dittmea; B. Bruton; M. Surkont; B. Thorpe; W. Cooper; B. Walters; E. Johnson; H. Hanebrink; B. Buni; G. Crowe and B. Keely.

Note, that the Warren Spahn and Eddie Mathews signatures are clubhouse.
