Vintage Webster Chicago Model 180-1 Wire Recorder 1949-50

The Webster Chicago Model 80-1 is a really rare wire recorder. Manufactured in the late 1940s, this system was created during an experimental era of sound recording. Wire recorders were used right before magnetic tape reels became the industry standard; these recorders used magnetized steel wire to record and play back music and dictation. Pretty cool, right?
