Presented is a Barbra Streisand’s signed corporation dilution contract from 11/14/79 with Barbell Enterprises. She signed the second page (of two) of the document in black pen (“9″) on the bottom line. The contract is presented in a display which features her photograph centrally. The display measures 14″x 29”.

In 1979, the impending breakup of Barwood Films—Barbra Streisand’s production corporation shared with her then-partner Jon Peters—loomed over Hollywood. While filming the romantic comedy The Main Event, the two struggled to separate their fraying romantic bond from a business empire that had generated massive industry success.

Streisand and Peters had built an empire together that reshaped the entertainment industry. With Peters managing her career and producing with her on projects like A Star Is Born, they established a potent corporate partnership. But by 1979, the strain of constantly working and living together had taken its toll. Both dominant, strong-willed personalities were frequently clashing, and Streisand was increasingly focused on branching out with her own directorial ambitions.

At the after-party, the tension was palpable. Whispers swept through the room that their business partnership—and romantic relationship—was quietly dissolving behind the scenes. While the film went on to become a box-office success, the transition marked a pivotal turning point in Streisand’s life.

Ultimately, Streisand used the end of this corporate era to take total creative control of her destiny. She parted ways with Peters on a corporate level and threw herself into developing Yentl, the monumental 1983 project that would establish her as one of the most powerful female directors in cinematic history.
