Tom Killeen is well known in the film industry as a movie magic specialist. Killeen works behind the scenes of the art department tirelessly. He is known for creating and painting designs that help actors morph into the characters they portray or transforming the entire imaginary world around them.  Among many films, he has worked on I Am Legend (2007), Independence Day (1996) and The Chronicles of Riddick (2004).

Presented are items from his personal collection. Some of the items are direct from film sets and others are project models he has worked on. The work on the props and models are beyond hobbyist as these pieces were touched by Killeen who has a highly technical and advanced artist skill. He is now ready to bring his form of art to market and have it appreciated by all the movie buffs or monster collectors out there.

From Killeen’s collection is this Valley of Gwangi dinosaur model kit. It’s painted professionally by Killeen. Inspired by Ray Harryhausen’s 1969 movie, “Valley of the Gwangi,” this is an early vinyl model by Kaiyodo of Japan, complete, and waiting to thrill anew. The film is set in Mexico near the end of the 19th century, telling of a mysterious hidden valley where prehistoric creatures still roam. Released back in 1988 as an extremely limited edition, Kaiyodo’s Gwangi is exceptional – a crisply detailed figure with a terrific, animated pose that’s equally well suited for stand-alone display, or creatively placed within a diorama setting.

All kit components are flawlessly molded in light gray vinyl, all neatly keyed for a simple, near seamless assembly. Once it was built, Kaiyodo’s raging dinosaur model measures 9” tall x 6” wide x 12 ½” long. And look how grand the beast appears when finished, as shown by Killeen’s talents. Surely one of the finest figural representations of Gwangi ever produced, Kaiyodo’s killer awaits in your collectible room’s display.
