Mickey Mantle & Joe DiMaggio Signed Photo 16×20 Yankees Insc. “No. 7” – COA JSA

The 1951 baseball season marked a crossover in the careers of two Hall of Famers on the New York Yankees in Joe DiMaggio and then-19-year-old Mickey Mantle. According to SABR, Mantle was first called up to the Yankees at the end of the 1950 season, but he remained in the dugout and didn’t see any action until the following season. Before the regular season got underway, DiMaggio announced that he planned to retire at the end of the year.

Presented is a 16×20 photo that shows a young Mickey Mantle and a veteran Joe DiMaggio on the New York Yankees from their single season together. The veteran and the heir apparent looking over their shoulders. So, happy together…?? Not so much as the Yankee outfield duo had an interesting relationship as they had an underlying animosity between them.  Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio both put black felt tip (“9-10″) signatures on the photo with Mantle adding his “No. 7” as an inscription.  Note, the frame is not included and the photo will be taken out of frame and glass when shipped.

These originated from a longtime collector who acquired a substantial amount of autographs traveling to many trade shows on the East Coast in the 1980’s-90’s. All the signatures along with rare inscriptions in his collection (especially Mickey Mantle) were obtained in person.
