Clark Gable was an American film actor, often referred to as “The King of Hollywood”. He had roles in more than 60 motion pictures in multiple genres during a career that lasted 37 years, three decades of which was as a leading man. Gable died of a heart attack; his final on-screen appearance was of an aging cowboy in The Misfits, released posthumously in 1961.

One of the first things people do when visiting the stars’ handprints and footprints in cement out front of the (now) Mann’s Chinese Theater is to put their own hands in those famous indentations. It is especially tempting with Clark Gable’s because his paws were so large.

Presented is a large concrete display featuring Clark Gable’s handprints and signature. Back in the day in order to commemorate an opening, stars would set their hands and/or feet in concrete along with a signature like at Mann’s Chinese Theater. Here we have an example of that commemoration at a different location/event. The information as where this was set has since been lost over the years since Gable’s passing (1960).

It is a wonderful and unique display piece featuring Gable’s actual handprints and autograph in the concrete. The signature although observed by JSA as being “good” it is unable to be authenticated because of the medium it was written in and on. The display measures 24″ x 26″. The visible central concrete portion measures 15″ x 17.5″.
